Witch Spells - Do you have to be a witch to cast them?

Short answer is NO :-)

You do not have to be a witch to cast witch spells. And witch spells is another word to describe witchcraft spells, wiccan spells and so forth.

What we have recognized within our small, silent magickal community is different people prefer to use different terms. Many of them are interchangeable (though it's important to know that Witchcraft and Wicca are not one and the same - as many Wiccans do not practice witchcraft or call themselves a witch; and many witches are not Wiccans).

I do get asked though about whether someone has to be a bona-fide witch for a spell to work.

It is completely your choice whether you can to call yourself a witch. A witch is essentially someone who works with the energies of the universe and nature to consciously create. That therefore would make many of the self help, personal development gurus effectively witches - and they are not, unless they choose to identify with that label (and they are of course welcome to do so, and still respected if they do not :-) )

So you can be the 'person off the street' and still cast a witch spell. And you can even be successful at it - provided you adopt the number one rule of successful spell casting (as well as adhering to the rule of respecting another's free will).

This number one rule of witch spells works with the 'like attracts like' principal. So that when you spell cast - you must believe, know, feel, see that what you want to have happen will.

This is where is can be problematic for people. As we are so full of the emotion - it might be worry over money, or heart-ache over lost love. And that feeling is incredibly prevalent, and it requires a huge commitment, conscious decision and hard mental and emotional discipline to choose to focus on what it is you want as if you have it now.

So whilst you cast the spell - and a spell in, of, itself is indeed powerful - you need to be focused on what you DO want. And then even after casting that spell, to support it happening - it requires you to move into the emotional state of certainty that what you want to have happen will. Many would call this faith - and faith is incredibly powerful!

So to get you started here is a wonderful little spell for you:

Spell For Peace & Harmony

Items required:

• Rose quartz
• A mirror
• A pink candle

Light the pink candle and place it in front of the mirror. Hold the rose quartz in your hands and gaze reflected in the mirror as you chant the following:

O blessed and reflected light. Bring to me peace this night. Let my mind and heart be free. And filled with Love & Harmony.

Look past the flame into the mirror. Try to see which negative elements are affecting you that you want to get rid of. see them being drawn from you into the candle flame and then into the mirror. When you feel the time is right, place the mirror face down. Allow the candle to burn for one hour and then snuff it out. Clean the mirror in salt water and repeat whenever you feel it's needed.
